The students have produced various mini books. Some have made smart books on Science, a Biography of Indonesia's President, a dictionary of conversations with friends in Arabic and English, It's Easy to learn Mathematics, and many more subjects.
According to Pak Ridwan, a USAID PRIORITAS teaching and learning facilitator, who also teaches at this madrasah, the production of mini books has encouraged the students to read and write. To make a mini book, a student usually uses a sheet of HVS paper divided into four smaller sheets. One book consists of 8-16 pages. The content depends on the lesson topic. “One book can usually be completed in one or several lessons. Completed books are usually exchanged between friends for them to read and evaluate,” explained Pak Ridwan.
